The Coronas Playa is an attractive, modern hotel built in low-level, tiered clusters. It's set on the main road into Costa Teguise and is pulled right up against the coast. As such, stellar sea views come as standard.

Without a doubt, the focal point of the hotel is the enormous sun terrace. At its centre sits a large, heart-shaped swimming pool flanked by sunbeds, straw-thatched parasols and two bars.

There's more in the way of relaxation at the health and beauty centre where you can treat yourself to a pampering treatment. In terms of activities, the hotel lays on a range of daytime pursuits including squash and tennis. And at nearby Las Cucharas beach, there's a host of watersports to choose from.

On the accommodation front, the bedrooms are spacious and bright, with lemon-washed walls and pale wooden floors. Sky-blue bed covers and curtains add a splash of colour and all rooms come with balconies or terraces.

As the Coronas Playa is part of the Thomson Gold collection, particular attention is paid to food and entertainment. There are buffet meals, gala dinners and regular theme nights. Not to mention plenty in the way of live music, comedy and cabaret.

Location-wise, there are a handful of bars and restaurants just outside the hotel. For more in the way of shops and eateries, you'll need to head into the resort centre - a ten to fifteen minute stroll away. This is also where you'll find the closest sandy beach. If you don't fancy the walk jump on a bus into town – there's a bus stop close to the hotel. Buses also run to the capital, Arrecife, and the livelier resort of Playa del Carmen.
