Guide to Portinatx

'Hideaway coves, good restaurants and plenty of charm – Portinatx is as pretty as a postcard picture.'

Set around three beaches where the sand is fine, the water is clear and the swimming is inviting, Portinatx is a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You'll find no noisy nightclubs so if you're after a hot and happening party scene, it's not the place for you. But you will find music bars gently swinging in the evening, perfect for when a little light entertainment is in order. And there's also a good selection of restaurants serving Spanish cuisine - and you'll come across a few fast food places for when you're eating on the hoof. This is the sort of place where you can order fresh fish caught earlier that day and then sit and relax with a glass of wine while the children play on the beach until their meal is ready. Speaking of beaches, there are three little coves here - all with shallow seas and safe swimming for children. S'Arenal Grand and S'Arenal Petit are both near the centre of the resort, whilst Es Port nestles amongst the pines at the northern end of the village. If you've all outgrown building sandcastles, then there's windsurfing, snorkeling and a diving school to keep you busy - as well as glass bottom boat tours from the beach. Prefer to keep your feet dry? Walk along the rugged cliffs to the lighthouse at the northern end of the island, the views are breathtaking. Of course, if exercise is firmly off the agenda when you're on holiday, you could always go shopping in the leather shops and fashion boutiques, or visit the Hippy Market on a Sunday for colourful souvenirs and trinkets. However you choose to spend your time, you'll fall for pretty Portinatx – hook, line and sinker.
